How We Formulate

At Biostime, science guides everything we do. We create child-focused products that address root causes using carefully chosen, research-backed ingredients. By translating the latest science into thoughtful formulations, we support children from infancy through adolescence. We focus on high-quality ingredients, clinically-tested probiotic strains, and easy-to-use formats that help families stay consistent every day.

Root Cause First

At Biostime, we start with the real challenges children and parents face, creating products that address health needs at the root cause rather than focusing only on symptoms. By supporting foundational areas—like essential nutrition, a healthy microbiome, and normal immune function—we help children thrive every day.

Evidence-Led by Design

Biostime formulations are guided by science and supported by trusted research. Our science team reviews age-specific insights and the latest microbiome and ingredient research to carefully choose what goes into each product—and why. Every formula is intentionally designed, from ingredient selection through to the final product.

The principles we use to build every formula

Our Science Standards

Photorealistic premium image illustrating “research-derived dosage” for the Biostime website. Scene: a clean modern research workspace. Close-up of an expert’s hands precisely measuring a small amount of neutral powder using a micro-scoop onto a digital scale, next to a graduated cylinder and a notebook with blurred charts (no readable text). The feeling is precision, intentional formulation, and correct inclusion levels.

Research-Derived Dosage

Dosage matters as much as ingredient choice. We use scientific evidence to guide appropriate inclusion levels so formulas are built intentionally—not generically

Scene: a clean, modern desk with an open laptop showing an abstract clinical study chart (blurred, no readable text), a printed research paper with highlighted lines (text not readable), and a simple clipboard checklist (no readable text). Add subtle cues of peer-reviewed evidence: graphs, citations-like formatting (blurred). Calm, trustworthy, premium, science-led.

Clinical Substantiation

We prioritize ingredients supported by substantial clinical research and clear substantiation. Our goal is to make evidence-led choices that align with the intended use and fit consistent daily routines.

Kid Specific Probiotics

Biostime selects probiotic and postbiotic strains that have been clinically studied for the needs that matter most to children and their parents. Because probiotic benefits are strain-specific, results depend on the exact strain used. When available, we prioritize strains that have been studied in pediatric populations.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are probiotics?

Probiotics, aka beneficial bacteria, are live microorganisms that increase the number of good bacteria already in the gut. These good bacteria help the body stay healthy and regulate the digestive system and fight harmful bacteria.

What are prebiotics?

Prebiotics are types of non-digestible fibers that stimulate the growth of good bacteria in the gut.

What are Synbiotics? What are their benefits?

Synbiotics are simply a combination of prebiotics and probiotics. Since prebiotics enhance the benefits of probiotics, think of synbiotics as a super dose of good, health-improving bacteria that help increase the efficacy of probiotics in the product.

What do baby Probiotics do? Why should kids take Probiotics?

Probiotics for babies help support your little one’s immune system and keep their digestive system running smoothly. They can help with occasional instances of irregular bowel movements and constipation. Probiotics can also provide aid in the development and maintenance of their metabolism and oral health (depending on the strain).

Are Probiotics safe?

Probiotics have been shown safe for babies, toddlers, children and adults. We do, however, always recommend speaking with your healthcare provider before use.

How long does it take for Probiotics to work in kids?

When taking probiotics for specific instances of diarrhea or constipation, your child may notice an improvement in a few days. For support of overall digestive or immune health, it can take weeks to see valuable results. Make sure to always follow product labels or your healthcare provider’s advice.

What happens when infants stop taking Probiotics?

Studies have shown that probiotics can be effective as a short-term solution to routine tummy troubles, but are often more effective when taken for an extended period. Stopping them will likely make your little one’s gut return to its pre-supplementation condition.
